Following a spectacular week playing for thousands of local fourth- and fifth-graders at our Young Person’s Concerts, we invite the whole community to an encore performance. In a spellbinding tale that blends narration with live music, young Tony Stradivarius uses a magical book to guide the Orchestra, giving children a playful introduction to symphonic music, orchestra instruments, and even conducting!

Sarasota Orchestra partners with the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall to present Summon the Heroes, a concert of heartfelt music commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11. Led by conductor Evan Roider, this concert invites the community to come together to honor the enduring resilience of the American spirit.

The program features iconic music of remembrance and reflection, such as Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Barber's poignant Adagio for Strings, and John Williams' Summon the Heroes. Liberty for All, with narration by Nate Jacobs, founder and artistic director of the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe, will also be featured. Soprano Amy Owens melds a "fresh and electrifying" voice (Omaha World-Herald) with Sarasota Orchestra's sound in stirring performances of “Amazing Grace” and “America the Beautiful.”

Proceeds from this special evening will benefit four local charities: Resilient Retreat, Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Charitable Foundation, Sarasota Firefighters Benevolent Fund, and Sarasota Police Foundation. Join neighbors, friends, and music lovers for an inspiring evening of music affirming that our community is always stronger, more connected, and more resilient when we stand together.

GRAMMY® Award-winning German conductor Christian Reif makes his Sarasota Orchestra debut in a program designed to light up your senses. Winner of a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant, cellist Sterling Elliott has quickly emerged as one of classical music’s most exciting performers. He makes his Sarasota Orchestra debut in Sir Edward Elgar’s deeply moving Cello Concerto, the composer’s final masterpiece for orchestra. The concert culminates with Johannes Brahms’ radiant Symphony No. 2, composed during one of the happiest summers of his life and filled with warmth, lyricism, and the quiet joy of communing with nature. Opening the program, Julia Adolphe’s Underneath the Sheen offers a luminous musical tribute to California’s majestic redwood forests, setting the tone for a listening experience of reflection and renewal.
