Bassoonist Asha Kline currently holds positions with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in May of 2024, where she studied with Daniel Matsukawa. In December 2022, Kline was named the first prize winner of the Boston Woodwind Society's Matthew Ruggiero International Bassoon Competition. The following month, she traveled to Tucson, AZ, to compete in the Meg Quigley Vivaldi competition and was awarded first prize. Kline has enjoyed spending the past two summers at the Tanglewood Music Center as a bassoon fellow, and other festivals including the National Orchestral Institute and Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra. Born and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland, Kline started her bassoon studies at age ten. Her previous teachers include Fei Xie, Harrison Miller, Schuyler Jackson, and Monica Schwartz.
