Hanna Kim
Biography
Hanna Kim joined Sarasota Orchestra as section percussionist in October 2023. Prior to being appointed, she was a freelance musician based in Pittsburgh. She performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, New World Symphony, and Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh. Hanna has attended the Aspen Music Festival, Alan Abel Percussion Seminar, Verbier Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and National Repertory Orchestra. Passionate about music education, Hanna served as percussion coach for the Three Rivers Young People’s Orchestra (TRYPO) Wind Symphony and gave private lessons to students in the Temple University Community Music Scholars Program (CMSP) and the National Repertory Orchestra’s Summit County Music Lesson Scholarship Program. She was also a percussion coach for the Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar.

Career Highlights: Hanna's most memorable performance was her very first Rite of Spring with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Kimmel Center and Carnegie Hall with Marin Alsop and assistant conductor Austin Chanu (in his Philadelphia Orchestra debut) as rotating conductors. The intensity and drive throughout the entire piece were unforgettable.
Passions and Interests: Hanna enjoys being outdoors, discovering new places (especially coffee shops), making coffee (pour-over and barraquitos), and playing with her cat, Apollo.” “If I did not pursue music," she says, "I probably would have been a cartoon illustrator. Growing up, I had fun drawing silly cartoons. I was one of the winners for a ‘Making Fiends’ art contest.”
