Sarasota Music Festival faculty and fellows reunite in a concert of dynamic musical collaboration. Longtime faculty violist James Dunham leads string fellows in Bach’s iconic Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, in which every member of the ensemble becomes a soloist. The woodwind fellows take their turn on stage in Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s celebrated Wind Quintet under the direction of faculty bassoonist Peter Kolkay. A quintet of fellows performs Joshua Ranz’s arrangement of Florence Price’s hauntingly lyrical Adoration, showcasing the incredible gifts of the first Black American female composer to receive widespread recognition. The program concludes with Dvořák’s grand Piano Quintet in A Major, considered among the finest works in the genre.
