Mary So has been playing the violin for over 6,000 consecutive days (and counting)! She began her violin studies at the age of two with the Ottawa Suzuki Strings, directed by Alice Joy Lewis. She later studied with Joseph Kaminsky and is currently studying with Sigurbjörn Bernharðsson as a junior at Oberlin Conservatory. Mary has played in masterclasses with Almita Vamos, Roland Vamos, Brian Lewis, Erin Schreiber, and Noah Geller. She has also appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Town and Country Symphony Orchestra, the Northland Symphony Orchestra, and the University City Orchestra, among others. In 2025, Mary was awarded first place in the Music Teachers’ National Association Young Artists Competition for the Young Artist Division in the State of Ohio. As a fourth-degree black belt, Mary also enjoys competing in high-level martial arts competitions.
