Born in Dalian, China, Yang Gao began studying piano at age four and gave his first recital at the age of ten.

Yang is featured as one of the young artists in the Rising Star Series at Portland Piano International this season. He will also be featured as a soloist for the Mannes Sound Festival Finale Concert at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall.

In addition, he is an active performer of chamber music. He has appeared across the United States in venues such as Cincinnati's Werner Recital Hall, Greensboro's Dana Auditorium, and New York's Bohemian National Hall and German Consulate General New York.

Yang was selected to receive a fellowship for the 2022 Gilmore Piano Festival. He has been featured in masterclass and recitals at PianoSummer at New Paltz, Art of the Piano, and Eastern Music Festival, and Mannes Sound Festival.
