Franklin Cohen, a 1995 Grammy Award Winner is one of the most distinguished clarinetist/musicians of his generation. In 1968 Mr. Cohen won First Prize at the (ARD) Munich Competition, subsequently enjoying a successful international career as a solo and recording artist. In 1976 he was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Cleveland Orchestra, a position he held for 40 years. Upon his retirement he was honored with the first-ever title "Emeritus" being the most frequent soloist in the orchestra's history. Mr. Cohen has held the position as Clarinet Department Head at the Cleveland Institute of Music for over 43 years.

He continues to perform with leading artists around the globe and many of his students hold prestigious positions in the music world.

Mr. Cohen is the founder and co-Artistic Director of ChamberFest Cleveland.
