Joined the Orchestra in 2018

Ryun Schienbein has been involved in arts administration for over 18 years. During this time, he has been responsible for projects presented at the Venice Biennale, Edinburgh and Singapore Arts Festivals and Lincoln Center's White Light Festival. He has been involved in all aspects of the commissioning of over 40 orchestral works and their presentation in over 160 performances in over 18 States and 12 Countries around the world. He has managed recording projects for the EMI, Nonesuch, Blue Note, Avex and Onyx Classics labels, the production of television programs for CCTV, PBS, Nippon Television and Fuji TV and radio broadcasts for MPR and WNYC.

During his tenure as Director of Artistic Administration for Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the organization's 40th anniversary season received ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming and for Programming of American Music on Foreign Tours. He oversaw the creation of orchestra's own record label and produced its first release. Through his own artist management firm Ryun has supported the work of many prominent jazz artists and organizations including Terence Blanchard, Christian McBride, the Havana Plaza and Panama Jazz Festivals. Ryun also served as producer for Wayne Shorter's upcoming opera. A frequent guest lecturer and jurist, this past year Ryun lectured at University of Delaware and served as a jurist for South Arts Performing Arts Exchange. A former bassist, Ryun is a graduate of Indiana University and Yale University.
