Music Moves Us

Our vision is to share beauty and our personal wishes and thoughts with you until we can reunite in the concert hall.

Our Sarasota Orchestra family is committed to staying connected through music that uplifts and inspires.

This growing collection of video messages and music, concert recordings, and special items represents our passion for great music.

We hope you find some measure of joy and respite in the music and voices we share here.

Beethoven 7

Your Sarasota Orchestra presents a virtual performance of the second movement from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Its strong, steady pulse moves as we do--ever forward, inspired by the uplifting power of music.

Concert Perspectives on Chamber Soirées

Enrich your listening! First, enjoy a medley of performances from this past season of chamber concerts, including works by Beethoven and Prokofiev, in a WSMR broadcast recording.

Then catch up with the musicians as they share anecdotes from these performances and more in an online edition of Concert Perspectives. Kerry Smith, Director of Artistic Planning, leads this convivial conversation with Jennifer Best Takeda, Assistant Concertmaster; Samantha Bennett, Principal Second Violin; and Joshua Horne, Co-Principal Horn.

Music Moves Us

The people and music from the programs of Sarasota Orchestra – professional orchestra, youth programs and Sarasota Music Festival – are beacons of artistic light and emotional connection, even when we are apart. This campaign of 'social distancing' friendly engagement is starting with video vignettes from our musicians and will continue to expand. Upcoming releases include messages and music from Artistic Advisor and Festival Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, contributions from the participants in our youth and Festival programs, recordings from previous concerts with video introductions, and our weekly broadcasts on classical WSMR, as well as other surprise gems and tidbits.

There is so much we can do musically and to support our community, even when we cannot come together in the performance hall. Please join us here for our journey of exploration.

Literally gripping the arms of my seat, I was not the only one propelled on this rollercoaster of delightful music.

Every section and soloist within the orchestra played their role with strength and beauty; every tree proud and tall. Tali served as an excellent guide leading the forces with assured confidence. The overall sound was lush and, yes, intense just where it needed to be.

The Sarasota Orchestra was brimming with bubbling energy...

A lifetime of musical moments, cinematic in scope, gave every section of the orchestra a leading role at one time or another. Chief among them was the virtuosic solo of concertmaster Daniel Jordan.

It was a thrill ride resulting in an explosion of audience enthusiasm.

Andrew Lane, the Orchestra’s Principal Pops Conductor, knows how to program a winning event and this concert had something for everyone. It also brought in a whole new audience that seemed dazzled by the performances.

The Sarasota Orchestra played a program this past weekend filled with so much color, it was like visiting the Louvre.

The performance... was exceptional, bringing new and stunning sonorities from a larger than usual Sarasota Orchestra under the dynamic leadership of Anu Tali.
