The 2022 Sarasota Music Festival culminates with a program full of orchestral flair. The concert opens with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer George Walker’s tribute to his grandmother, a formerly enslaved person. Festival alumna and faculty violinist Francesca Anderegg, whose “virtuosic panache” has been hailed by The New York Times, performs Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. The slow movement of the concerto gives rise to one of the composer’s most unforgettable and ravishingly beautiful melodies. The Festival concludes on a joyous note with Felix Mendelssohn’s beloved Symphony No. 4, a high-spirited tribute to Italy’s sunshine and warm breezes.
