Sarasota Orchestra’s wind and brass quintets take center stage in a program of masterpieces. Carl Nielsen had a fondness for nature and all “living, breathing things.” His wind quintet is a remarkable staple of the repertoire, highlighting the sounds and personalities of the individual instruments. Victor Ewald was an engineer with a special affinity for the brass family. His Quintet No. 3 showcases the performers’ prowess as it gifts a tuneful, Romantic-era gem to the audience.
