Yangyang Liang began studying violin at the age of five and was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music middle school at the age of 11 to learn from renowned viola professor Su Zhen. Yangyang currently studies at the Juilliard School of Music with viola professor, Paul Neubauer. In January 2022, she won first place in the Vivo International Music Competition and won first prize in the under-18 group of the London Young Musician London Young Musicians Competition. In 2020, she won the third prize of the professional high school group in the Bach International Music Competition. Yangyang has been invited by the Chinese Consulate General in New York to perform as a student representative of the Juilliard School. She recently made her Carnegie Stern Auditorium solo debut where she premiered a Chinese piece written for viola.
