Vera Romero, a Venezuelan-born French hornist, began her musical journey in Austin, Texas, at the age of 11. She quickly discovered her passion for the instrument, excelling in Texas Music Educators Association competitions, where she was principal horn of her region for multiple years and earned the position of second horn in the Texas All-State Orchestra. She was also selected for Carnegie Hall’s prestigious NYO-USA.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in French Horn Performance at the Manhattan School of Music under Michelle Baker, Vera has gained extensive orchestral experience. She has performed as the obbligato horn soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, principal horn in Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11 and Puccini’s La Rondine, among others. Professionally, she has worked with the Princeton Symphony, Symphony in C, Jupiter Symphony, and Carnegie Hall’s Resnick Education Wing. She looks forward to furthering her studies and expanding her artistry through festivals like SMF.
