Born in Toronto, Ontario, Thomas Gougeon started the violin at the age of three with the Suzuki program. After leaving the Suzuki program, Thomas studied with Eri Kosaka from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Thomas then moved to Houston, TX, at the age of 14, where he studied with Rodica Gonzalez and later with Kirsten Yon. He then went to the Butler School of Music in Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Music under Sandy Yamamoto. Thomas was concertmaster of the Round Top Festival Orchestra in the summer 2023 season and has played with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Central Texas Philharmonic. As an active chamber musician, Thomas has performed alongside renowned chamber performers including Daniel Ching, Anton Nel, Bion Tsang, and Sandy Yamamoto. Thomas continues to study with Sandy Yamamoto at the Butler School of Music in pursuit of his artist diploma.
