Sophie Denhard is a classical double bassist currently completing her Master of Music degree at the Peabody Conservatory, studying with Nina DeCesare. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, studying with Andrew Raciti. She has played professionally in the Chattanooga Symphony, Seattle’s Orquesta Northwest, the International Baccalaureate Ensemble, and Northwestern’s Kellogg School orchestral presentation under Dr. Stephen Alltop. Sophie participated in the National Youth Orchestra program in the summer of 2020, studying under Robin Kesselman and Alex Hanna, and attended the Honeywell Arts Academy Wabass Institute in the summer of 2024, studying under Hal Robinson, Ranaan Meyer, and Eric Carlson. Sophie is actively auditioning for local and regional orchestras in the greater Baltimore area, as well as the New World Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
