Sophie Choy

Born in 2005 in Hong Kong, Sophie began playing the horn at the age of six. She studied with Sally Ng and Lin Jiang before continuing her education in the United States at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where she studied with Corbin Wagner and Lauren Hunt. Sophie is currently a student at The Juilliard School in New York City, studying under Eric Ralske, the principal horn of the Metropolitan Opera.

In 2020, Sophie was awarded the Jack (John R.) and Mary Lou Hood Endowed Academy Scholarship following her acceptance into Interlochen Arts Academy. She also participated in the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, in the summer of 2024.

Before pursuing her studies in the US, Sophie traveled with the band and orchestra of Alliance Primary School, Kowloon Tong, and Diocesan Girls' School, her alma maters, to perform in competitions and exchange programs in Finland, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, and China.
