Yun-ting Chiang, born in 2005 in Taiwan and raised in Shanghai, is a passionate cellist. She began learning piano at 5, and cello and composition at 9. Initially focusing on piano, she shifted to cello at 12 under Professor Xuewen Gao. In 2019, she won second prize at the Osaka International Music Competition. Bilingual in Mandarin and English, Monica (her English name) graduated from Tianjin Juilliard School Pre-college in 2024, majoring in cello with Dr. Yeonjin Kim, and entered the New England Conservatory (NEC) on a Dean Scholarship, studying with Julie Albers. At TJS, Monica won the First Cello Concerto Competition and performed Haydn's Cello Concerto. She also collaborated with musicians from Yo-Yo Ma's "Silk Road" (Gao Hong and Issam Rafea) and performed in major venues across Taiwan and China. In 2024, Monica's Elise Quartet won NEC Chamber Music Honors, and she performed "The Swan" in Boston's sold-out Nutcracker Ballet.
