Originally from Dalian, China, Mei Liu is a violinist based in Austin, Texas. She earned dual degrees in Psychology and Music Performance at Arizona State University with Dr. Katherine McLin in 2022 and completed her Master's at the University of Texas at Austin in 2024. As an active chamber musician, Mei has performed alongside Sandy Yamamoto and Anton Nel while competing and performing with the Soha Quartet, who had recently been accepted into the Music Teachers National Association Chamber Competition Finals. She has also received concertmaster and principal second positions in the UT Symphony Orchestra and the Butler Opera Center. In addition, she is also subbing with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Mei has played masterclasses for world-renowned artists such as Midori, Astrid Schween, Frank Huang, and Norman Fischer. Now, Mei is pursuing an Artist Diploma at UT Austin with Professor Sandy Yamamoto.
