Maurice Neuman

Cellist Maurice Neuman, 20, is a sophomore at Princeton University where he studies with Professor Clancy Newman and Professor Hans Jørgen Jensen. Maurice was previously principal cellist of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s top orchestra and principal cellist of the 2023 Illinois Music Education Association All-State Honors Orchestra. Maurice has performed as a soloist with the Princeton University Orchestra, the DePaul and Northwest symphonies, and the Lakeview Orchestra. He is a winner of the 2025-2026 Princeton University Concerto Competition, Second Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 Chicago International Music Competition, and First Prize winner of the 2023 Gershwin International Competition and 2023 Charleston International Music Competition, among others. Maurice attended Greenwood Music Camp for six summers, has appeared as a concert artist at ChamberFest Brown County, and also attended Music@Menlo as a Young Performer last summer. Maurice has been featured on New York’s Classical Music Radio Station, WQXR. He is a member of Opus, Princeton's premier chamber music society.
