Kelvin Tang is an accomplished pianist and composer who began publishing his own works in 2023. His notable compositions include the collaborative Violin Sonata No. 1 and Echoes of Home. In 2021, Kelvin won the prestigious Beethoven Takács Piano Competition at Oberlin, marking a significant achievement in his musical journey.
Kelvin has performed at a variety of venues during his time at Oberlin, including the 2024 Commencement Recital, where he was selected as a senior representative. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with esteemed musicians such as Dang Thai Son, Alexander Shtarkman, Stanislav Ioudenitch, and Leslie Howard, gaining invaluable insight from each experience.
Kelvin is currently pursuing his Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he studies with HieYon Choi. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying under Alvin Chow.
