Joshua So, 21, is an oboist from Syracuse, New York, studying under Richard Killmer at the Eastman School of Music. He attended the Interlochen Arts Academy from 2019 to 2022, where he played in the Academy Wind Symphony and Academy Orchestra. There, he also performed in masterclasses led by Kim Ganong, Titus Underwood, and Jaren Atherholt. He placed in the Music International Grand Prix (Semifinalist), Baroque on Beaver-Young Artist Competition (Honorable Mention), Interlochen Concerto Competition (Finalist), Bellegrande International Music Competition (2nd Place), and "Golden Classical Music Awards" International Competition (First Place). As a 2023 winner of the Eastern Music Festival Concerto Competition, he made his concerto debut with the Martinů Oboe Concerto. Summer festival appearances include the Eastern Music Festival and Round Top Music Festival, where he received a full tuition scholarship. At Eastman, Joshua regularly performs in the Eastman Wind Quintet, Wind Ensemble, and Philharmonia.
