Gabriela Salvador Riera is a 19-year-old violinist pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory, studying under Sigurbjörn Bernharðsson.. She is a recipient of the 2024 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and second-place laureate of the national 2023 Sphinx Competition, Junior Division. In 2023, she made her professional solo debut with the Erie Philharmonic and later debuted with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2024. She was also featured on NPR’s From the Top show #451. Gabriela is a 2025 Music Academy of the West fellow and was a member of the String Quartet Seminar led by the Takács Quartet. In the summer of 2024, she performed with the NYO-USA as assistant concertmaster under Marin Alsop. Prior to her studies at Oberlin Conservatory, Gabriela studied with Shelley Beard at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, where she also played in the Newman String Quartet, which became a quarter-finalist at the 2024 Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition, Junior Division.
