Claire Russell

Claire Russell is a double bassist from Ithaca, NY, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the Peabody Conservatory in the studio of Nina DeCesare. Along with her solo and chamber music studies, during the semester she performs in the Peabody Conductor’s Orchestra and Peabody Symphony Orchestras. Claire has spent her summers at the Texas Music Festival, DCBass, Domaine Forget Academy, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute, as well as performing in the Finger Lakes Grassroots Orchestra annually. She exercises her passion for community music outreach whenever possible, interning at Bass Works and the Opus Ithaca School of Music, as well as previously serving as co-director of the Peabody String Sinfonia, a volunteer chamber group dedicated to bringing live music to Baltimore communities without access.
