Violist, Marcus Stevenson, is an avid chamber musician and educator based in New York City. Stevenson was a founding member of the Elless Quartet, who won Grand Prize in the 2020 Coltman Chamber Music Competition and were finalists in the 2022 Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. In 2023, the quartet was featured on composer Sami Seif's album "Quadrants," alongside the Harlem and Sirius Quartets. They have given masterclasses for the Music Institute of Chicago, Interlochen Arts Academy, and similar programs. Stevenson has also taught privately through the Shaker Heights Lesson Program and Back To Bach Cleveland. As a chamber musician, Stevenson has performed alongside renowned musicians including Jaime Laredo, Todd Phillips, Eric Reed, Sharon Robinson, and Philip Setzer. Stevenson earned his bachelor's degree in viola performance and eurythmics pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Jeffrey Irvine. He currently studies with Heidi Castleman at The Juilliard School.
