Sophia Su was born in 2001 in Macau. Her interest in music began at age 3, and she started learning the piano, and soon after started playing the violin at age 4 with her father. Sophia recorded her first DVD with the orchestra for World Expo 2010 Shanghai. Later, Sophia played the Paganini Concerto No.1 in the Bruckner Music Festival in Austria. In October of 2016, Sophia was named third prize in the Louis Spohr Violin Competition, and she performed in a concert series held by Sejong Soloists Ensemble where she played Haydn Concerto No.1 in C major. Sophia plays both violin and viola in her chamber groups at The Juilliard School, and has played both instruments at Aspen Music Festival. Sophia also played as a violinist in a piano duet chamber group. In 2021, Sophia joined the Manchester Music Festival as a violist and continues to play in various chamber groups.
