A celebrated concert pianist and Mozart scholar, Robert Levin served as a faculty artist at the Sarasota Music Festival for more than a quarter of a century and served as its second Music Director for a decade. Mr. Levin is president of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is the Dwight P. Robinson, Jr. Research Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University and visiting professor at the Juilliard School. Mr. Levin performs and conducts around the world and is renowned for his improvised embellishments and cadenzas in classical period repertoire. His active career as a chamber musician includes partnerships with violist Kim Kashkashian and his wife, pianist Ya-Fei Chuang. A member of the Akademie fur Mozartforschung, his completions of Mozart fragments are published by Barenreiter, Breitkopf & Hartel, Carus, Henle, and Peters, and are widely recorded and performed. His completions of the Mozart Requiem and C-minor Mass have won worldwide recognition.
