A feeling of awe will overtake you during this concert of two late works by two of classical music's greatest geniuses. Mozart's String Quartet No. 22 is the second to last of his string quartets. Although composed under the pressures of debt, depression, and waning popularity, the work sparkles with a timeless elegance and sophistication. It is an apt complement to the first of Beethoven's late string quartets. Written at the same time as his Symphony No. 9, this string quartet shows the entirety of Beethoven's brilliance. It is passionate, technically challenging, innovative, humorous and intense.
