Conductor: DANIEL HEGE, former Music Director of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra | Bio >
Soloist: PHILIPPE QUINT, violin | Bio >
Haydn’s gem delights with its sudden turns. This witty symphony displays Haydn’s joy of life. You will revel in Barber’s Violin Concerto that is described as pure and gorgeously melodic. It builds from a lyric beginning to a virtuosic finale. A winner of countless awards (including a Grammy nomination), Philippe Quint will bring added dimension to this beautiful concerto. Then, relax to Debussy’s dreamy Prelude. It heralded a new period in music with its opening: a sensual, sliding flute melody that represents the faun. Finally, experience Stravinsky’s pyrotechnic Firebird Suite, which is considered by many to contain the greatest finale in all of classical music. Conductor Daniel Hege, celebrated for his novel approach to classics and dedication to creative programming, will bring an exciting dimension to this concert.
