The evening opens with a full orchestra performance of Berlioz’s popular Roman Carnival Overture and closes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s moving Russian Easter Overture.

Featured soloists: 

Betsy Hudson TrabaBetsy Hudson Traba has served as the Principal Flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra and the Sarasota Wind Quintet since 1993. She is the former Principal Flutist of the Hofer Symphoniker in Hof, Germany. Ms. Traba has been heard frequently as a soloist throughout West Central Florida. In addition to her orchestral and freelance performing career, she has an active private teaching studio working with flute students from Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties.  




Jay HunsbergerJay Hunsberger, tuba, has been performing with the Sarasota Orchestra since 1987. Jay has performed at Tanglewood, Grand Teton Music Festival, Music Academy of the West and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestral Seminar. He has performed as a solo/chamber musician at many American universities. He also performed solo at the International Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Budapest, Hungary. Jay is a professor of tuba and euphonium at the University of South Florida in Tampa. 




Keith CarrickKeith Carrick began studying percussion at age eight through the public school system. In high school he joined the National Symphony Orchestra’s Youth Fellowship Program. Keith has been part of the Tanglewood Music Center and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, and has performed and taught across four continents. He has been the Principal Percussionist of the Sarasota Orchestra since 2007. 





Jennifer BestJennifer Best is currently the assistant concertmaster of the Sarasota Orchestra, as well as violinist of the resident Sarasota Piano Quartet. Prior to joining the Sarasota Orchestra in 2005, Jennifer served as a rotating co-concertmaster of the New World Symphony. Jennifer has performed at the New-York Historical Society and in the "Meet the Composers" series at Columbia University. Jennifer is also the associate concertmaster and faculty member of Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina. 




John MillerJohn Miller, double bass, has been performing with the Sarasota Orchestra since 1993. John has performed at the Colorado Music Festival, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, and with the Trout Quintet with Andre Watts. He has made several appearances as soloist with the Sarasota Orchestra. In 2002, "Miller and Ramsier Play Ramsier" was released by Albany Records. John was a Fellow of the New World Symphony (1990-1993).
