Joined the Orchestra in 2004
As principal librarian, Justin manages the preparation of all music
needed for orchestral and chamber performances, maintains the
Orchestra's substantial collection of music, provides library services
for orchestra members and staff, answers research and reference
inquiries, and acquires performance licensing rights for copyrighted
works. Justin's performance - library experience and training can be
traced back to high school. In college, he studied trombone performance
while beginning a career pursuit as an orchestral librarian. As a
library fellow of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Justin was an
apprentice to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Librarians. Though one of
Justin's favorite pieces is Schoenberg's Pelleas et Mellisande and he is
a fan of composers Bartók and Shostakovich, he is more inclined toward
contemporary composers Osvaldo Golijov, Philip Glass, and John Adams. “People are very surprised to learn that I also love Bluegrass Music.” Justin
has worked as librarian for the YouTube Symphony and continues as
librarian for the Mostly Mozart Music Festival - Lincoln Center.
