You'll revel at this feast of Baroque-inspired favorites. Monteverdi issued in the Baroque era with the world's first opera, L'Orfeo. Shining melodies climb ever higher in this brass suite from the original opera of mythic love and tragedy. The banquet continues with Bach's famous Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. Bach reinvented the concerto with this work in which string soloists engage in musically brilliant conversation and counterpoint. Performing this masterpiece will be members of the Sarasota String Quartet, the Sarasota Piano Quartet and three additional Sarasota Orchestra musicians. You'll simply devour the Pulcinella Suite. Stravinsky playfully turned to the Baroque for inspiration by taking melodies from Pergolesi and others while adding spicy hints of the modern. This will be a "suite" ending to your Baroque Buffet!
