To audience delight, Maestro Andrew Lane dynamically leads the
Sarasota Orchestra's Pixel Pops and the Holiday Family Concert programs.
Mr. Lane has conducted Symphonic Pops concerts with Broadway
superstar Davis Gaines and several Great Escapes concerts of light
classics and popular favorites. As resident conductor and principal pops
conductor of the Orlando Philharmonic, he conducts dozens of concerts
each season in the Orlando area.
He has worked with such diverse artists as Arturo Sandoval, Deborah
Gibson, Peter Schickele, Branford Marsalis, Roy Scheider, Greek tenor
Mario Frangoulis, and Joey Fatone from *NSYNC. The Orlando Sentinel has
stated, "Andrew Lane's concert program was perfect for the evening" and
"The concert was as pleasing as it was Patriotic." He and the Orlando
Phil have recorded Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait narrated by Bernard
Shaw. He also launched the Orlando Philharmonic's Young People's
Concerts for over 250,000 school children, and conducts a Family Concert
Series, where his unique programming has created a concert experience
that awakens curiosity and awareness of orchestral music.
As a French horn instrumentalist, Andrew Lane began his musical
career with the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. After
leaving the Navy in 1986, he became an active freelance horn player in
the Washington area, performing with the American Chamber Orchestra,
Washington Chamber Orchestra, Kennedy Center Orchestra and National
Gallery Orchestra. In 1990 he became a member of the French horn section
of the Florida Orchestra and, in 1991, won a position with the Florida
Symphony Orchestra in Orlando. Mr. Lane has served as principal
conductor of Southern Ballet Theatre and has guest conducted with the
Rochester Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic and The Florida Orchestra.
